Last week kind of sucked. Out of seven meals planned, we didn't get to four of them. Notice that it all fell apart at the end of the week. Oh well.. I didn't eat anything that would make me sick, and I lost SIX POUNDS IN ONE DAY!!! I wasn't even sure that was possible, but I have been assured that it is. W00t!This week we are party animals. On Monday we are going to a going away party for the couple who are leaving for Wisconsin on Tuesday. :o(
Friday is Ethan's birthday, and I will officially be the mother of 3 teenage boys. Someone shoot me, please.
Once again, all of the recipes are from George Stella. I made a list of the recipes that we have tried for my MIL, and realized that even though we have tried quite a few of them we continue to make them over and over. We are trying some new ones this week. I have yet to try a recipe from either book that we didn't like, so it should all be good.
07/20 - Sunday
"If You Had Wings" Chicken Wings (pg. 77 LLC), Southern Green Beans and Pecans (191 LLC) - in honor of us hopefully being Southerns soon. (The beans, not the wings.)
07/21 - Monday
Dinner at a going away party. Mac & Cheese, huge salad, various desserts. I am grilling some kind of meat to toss on a salad for myself, and making a dessert that I can eat to share. I am also making scones with Devonshire Cream at the request of the guest of honors.
07/22 - Tuesday
Szechuan Vegetable Stir Fry with chicken or shrimp (pg 152 LLC) - Got some great veggies at the farmers market. Yum!
07/23 - Wednesday
Steph's Chuck Pot Roast (pg. 143 SS - I will use the bottom round that I have), seasoned and roasted zucchini - We didn't get to this last week. Apparently pulling the meat from the freezer before you need it is a better choice than looking at it in the bottom of the freezer, saying a few expletives and making something else. Who knew?
07/24 - Thursday
General Tso's Chicken (pg. 160 SS), Cauliflower Rice Pilaf (pg. 199 SS) - Chinese food without the MSG. Its a good thing.
07/25 - Friday
Ethan's Birthday. - Brats, cole slaw, Key Lime Cheesecake - I swear to you that you need to try this cole slaw. It tastes just like Marzetti's. Marzetti's might be an Ohio/Michigan thing, so that might not mean anything to you. Trust me, you have to try it. We are having it because it is Ethan favorite thing ever.
07/26 - Saturday
Stuffed Meat Loaf Rollatini (pg 102 LLC), whatever vegetables look good at the farmers market, roasted - Yet another meal from last week that we didn't get to. Marty brought dinner home to surprise us.
